2019 Roadside Survey – Podcast
Welcome to another episode of The Iowa Sportsman Podcast! On this episode Dan is joined by Steve Weisman to discuss the 2019 August Roadside Survey. Every August the Iowa Department DNR conducts a roadside survey drive of 6,540 miles gathering population data for species such as pheasants, quail, partridge and rabbits. This information is tallied and a report is put out giving hunters an idea of what the current population of each species is in a given area of the state and how it ranks compared to years past.
Steve and Dan will take a look at the information and discuss population trends, what hunters can expect in certain regions, habitat loss, harvest numbers and get into detail about how the survey has evolved over the years.
