The ATA Show 2024

Iowa is the state every bowhunter wants to hunt, and for good reasons. The Iowa bowhunter wouldn’t be where we are today without improvements on technology. We have the option to shoot nostalgic equipment, or we can use the fastest crossbows during the late archery season. In this article, we are going to look at the 2024 Archery Trade Association Show. Behind the thrill of archery season lies a vital infrastructure, a network of interconnected threads woven together by the Archery Trade Association (ATA).

Established in 1927, the ATA stands as the beating heart of the archery industry, serving as a forum for manufacturers, retailers, and archers alike. Its importance can be measured in the ever-growing popularity of the sport, the technological advancements that streamline competition and expand accessibility, and the unwavering dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. For this reason, the ATA holds an annual show. Companies showcase new and innovative products to further the sport of archery. This is one of my favorite shows, businesses are introducing new products into the industry here.

The ATA’s annual Trade Show was from January 11-13th, 2024 in St. Louis, MO. Imagine stepping into a vibrant tapestry of revolution, where arrows hum in testing ranges, cutting-edge bows gleam under showroom lights, and industry giants and passionate newcomers mingle, sharing stories and exchanging ideas. It’s an epicenter of archery, a microcosm of the sport’s past, present, and most dazzling future. This year’s show held particular significance, not just for its record-breaking attendance and groundbreaking product launches, but also for its focus on key themes crucial to the sport’s continued growth.

Target Archers

Stepping away from the traditional image of a lone archer in the woods, the 2024 highlighted the different ages and physical differences of archers across the nation. From dedicated workshops focusing on adaptive archery for differently-abled individuals to vibrant booths showcasing gear targeted at women and young archers, the floor pulsed with an inclusive energy.

Revealing some new targets and features at the ATA. For instance, there is an app that will be coming out shortly that will help hunters and target shooters alike. With the app, it will overlay the vitals of animals on the foam 2D or 3D target. You can view a screen on your phone and see where your arrow would have hit as far as skeletal, and internal componets. Addiontally, the app is equipped to score as you would in a 3D competition. You just have to shoot, and it will track your points. New accessories and innovations were also displayed here. We will see light-weight and collapseable bow holders for sale soon too. The message was clear, archery is for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or physical limitations.

New Technology

Technology once again took aim at pushing the boundaries of the sport. New bow designs boasting silent releases, whisper-quiet draw cycles, and pinpoint accuracy were unveiled, alongside advancements in arrow nocks for micro diameter shafts, sights, and releases. Witnessing these innovations was to feel the future of archery taking shape in your hands.

One of our favorite products were the climbing sticks, making hunting mobile easier than ever. Another piece of technology that I believe we will see introduced into the trail camera world is 360-degree photo or video capabilities. Trail cameras are now incorporating the ability to capture photos and vidoes in a 360 degree range from the ultra-light camera. I don’t know about you, but I know I miss a lot of deer walking behind my camera, just out of view. This will eliminate missed pictures. We are excited to see some of the first cameras hit the markets integrated with this technology.

Sustainability

Recognizing the importance of fostering a new generation of skilled archers, the show dedicated significant space to educational programming. From beginner clinics to masterclasses led by Olympic champions, the floor buzzed with the desire to learn and refine. Moreover, the ATA’s unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability was evident in dedicated exhibitors showcasing eco-friendly practices and equipment, ensuring that the thrill of archery doesn’t come at the cost of our planet.

The 2024 ATA Trade Show wasn’t merely a commercial showcase; it was a celebration of a community, a reaffirmation of a shared passion. It was watching Olympic legends mingle with newcomers, seasoned instructors sharing wisdom with youth, and manufacturers forging partnerships that will shape the future of the sport. In the shared space of the show floor, barriers dissolved, united by a common lover for the outdoors and for archery. The 2024 ATA Trade Show may have drawn to a close, but the invaluable connections and ideas shared will continue moving the archery and hunting industry forward.
