There are always pressure ridges on West O. this time of year. Typically across the mouth of the bays and even running down the middle of the lake. Just stay aware of what’s ahead and don’t venture on in the dark.willcfishParticipantOctober 1, 2017 at 8:16 pmPost count: 563
I’d sure think they would be worth a try. We used to troll 3/4 oz. jigs with big twisters for walleye with good luck.willcfishParticipantSeptember 25, 2017 at 2:59 pmPost count: 563
You’re welcome! I’ve had limited success with lead core but those tadpoles are great. I bought some of the steel core (replaces lead) that works pretty good too but you just have to go to a heavier weight.
We used Pink Ladies all the time for Salmon on Lake Michigan to get our baits straight down. Dipsy Divers for off to the side and still get down. I would think either of those might work also with a long enough leader.willcfishParticipantApril 12, 2017 at 11:08 pmPost count: 563

The big walleye pictured was earlier in the week and weighed 12.5#. Last nights big Walleye was 8.5#.willcfishParticipantMay 8, 2016 at 2:34 pmPost count: 563
There is also an Iowa waterfalls route posted on the Iowa DNR site. As wet as it’s been the should be pretty good right now. A little more than 3 hours but a good day trip.willcfishParticipantApril 8, 2016 at 2:34 pmPost count: 563
You’re welcome Danny. I just posted a video from yesterday of a Drake Red-breasted Merganser defending his mate from another Drake. Lucky to be there at the right time.willcfishParticipantApril 3, 2016 at 3:49 pmPost count: 563

You’re welcome! It’s been sitting on the bank for a couple days. Easy pickings if the Eagle comes back. I’m sure it put a few punctures in the neck.willcfishParticipantMarch 19, 2016 at 3:36 pmPost count: 563

Here is a tagging video I did in 2013. Mike tells that they have fish back to 19 years right now and it was started 21 years ago.willcfishParticipantDecember 16, 2015 at 5:21 amPost count: 563
Ken, Here is a video and some information that I got from listening to Leo Kofoot who spearheaded the idea and fund drive to get this barrier at Okoboji coming out of Lower Gar.
Yes it will stop fish from migrating either direction, into or out of the lake. As you can see there is not a large drop off like a low head dam.willcfishParticipantAugust 2, 2015 at 9:00 pmPost count: 563
Don’t know about the plague shots. I remember at Fort Leonard Wood I gave shots with an air gun and a group of us rotated jobs. One guy on each side so they didn’t flinch cause it would blow the skin open if they moved away and spray vaccine and blood all over. Also one guy watching for anyone swaying in line while waiting for the shot. You could spot them right off and knew they’d be passing out soon. Strange as it seems it was mostly the big guys.
