Thanks a bunch, this has been helpful. I have decided that I am no longer going to hunt either of the shotgun seasons. I bought this pretty much on an impluse and I like to sit in my tree stands just to see what walks by instead of pushing them all over.
I have decided that I will do some experimenting this summer and most likely stick to 2 pellets just to keep it slightly more affordable and managable with the recoil.
Well it is off to the range now thanks guysin reply to: Half-strut decoys #2096280in reply to: Breast & Legs Question #2097018::Spent the time and effort killing the critter might as well not waste the legs and thighs. They are good for soups and stocks. I like to boil all the meat off of the carcass and make gumbo. Not right or wrong just makes sense to me to atleast get all of the edible parts off before getting rid of the rest.

The weather changes every year and messes it up. Keep it the way it is and hunt the season dates. There are always going to be exceptions one way or the other. Some years it ices up early and everyone moves through with 2 weeks left in the season. Other years the ducks have hardly shown up by the end of the season.
in reply to: How many rods/reels do you have? Not Enough! #2097712::Ah the joys of being single! I have a couple dozen rods and reels plus tackle boxes of all shapes and sizes. But my real outdoor vice is decoys. I have a basement chucked full of them. Floaters, field dekes, extra bags and weights. When someone does ask me why I have so much stuff I just have to reply “you never know when you might need it”
It is rough being hopelessly addicted to the outdoors!
in reply to: Missed Shot.relocate? #2097713::I say hold tight, If the birds dont have a great idea of where the shot came from they dont know what to do. I have been hunting with friends and they were a couple hundred yards off and shot, at the same time I had birds in front of me and after the shot they gobbled at the noise. They are goofy birds, just make sure you are concealed really good and know your yardage, they are big birds and can look a lot closer than they really are. Good Luck
in reply to: Snow Geese #2097826::Yeah when they get spooked they usually dont allow too many low shots, heck they get shot at nearly all year roung, get a couple months off to wreck the tundra then head back south and start getting shot at again. Constantly being snuck up on and shot at makes them pretty educated in a real quick hurry

In a few years he will be a bruiser. Plus I found a single side from a 3 1/3 year old. Real heavy mass put only 3 pts. I am 90% sure that I found is rack last year, still I hope to see him this fall as a 4 1/2 year old he will be a really heavy 7 pter I think. All of them were really fresh and were not there a week before, when I was looking and running my dogs
in reply to: Found while shed hunting #2098599in reply to: River Trip #2099425::You will have to do some research as to where you are going to stay. Many of iowas small rivers are surounded by private ground and just pulling up on a sand bar is considered tresspassing. That would be one consideration, otherwise a good water filter would be advised since it would be a hassle to bring a weeks worth of water in your boat
