Just wondering how many of you are seeing lots of deer on public?

I have been out 8 times in the evenings and have seen very little in numbers.

When I drove by the majority of West Lake is open. I would expect the rest to cave in tomorrow. A little breeze would help out matters.

    Is the boat ramp open?

Recently I have fished a few smaller ponds around towns and farm ponds and they have been hot.

When you say ponds what exactly do you mean other than farm ponds?

When I first started geocaching almost 10 years ago, I *hated* UTM coordinates, or anything that didn’t look like DD or DMS. Now, give me the choice between working with DMS coordinates and smacking myself in the kneecap with a ball peen hammer, and I might just choose the hammer.

    Love that one

Thanks, does anyone else have any suggestions.

I put the DNR coordinates into a converter but it seems like the conversion was a few hundred feet off the mark.

Has anyone found a conversion website that is accurate to match with the DNR coordinates?

The ice was a solid and beautiful 7-8″ thick. (Probably thicker now) There was an ATV driving around too while i was out there. Fishing was excellent! I was out on the ice during the early afternoon hours untill dusk. Fishing was great all day though. Largemouth bass were biting well too. Caught 4 or 5 of them, 8 or 9 bluegill, and 3 wipers. Missed many more. Fishing over structure is the key. The lure was a tiny gill pill, tipped with 2-3 spikes. All fish were caught on that, but the wipers were caught on a rattling jigging spoon. Wipers were in 35′ of water, and the other fish were in 8′ of water.

So you caught the gill and bass in only 8 FOW or 8 fee below the ice?

Any luck at Banner yesterday? I ice fished a small pond close to there yesterday for a couple hours. The ice was about 5-6 inches thick. The crappie and bluegill were biting pretty well.

    Nothing not even a bite.

If your hunting private land just rake the trails you take to your stands that’s what my brother and I do then you can get in quietly and you don’t step on and break sticks.

I like this idea, but aren’t you going to have to rake every other day just to keep up? And aren’t you scaring deer away while raking and making a racket? Not being argumentative, just curious.

How about just bagging the leaves on your mower on the way in. At ,east it might be clear on the way out. Lol 😀

There really are no poisonous polypores in Ia some just taste better than others.Eat away.

Actually the smaller ones on the left were also growing on an oak. They are white with gills.

The larger mushroom that is up is up side down. If you found it by an oak tree it should be a Maitake. The other mushroom / is this gill or pores?

Yes on old decaying oak, with pores. It was at least10 pounds pretty thick. Can you eat the whole thing?
