Got out to the pond kitty corner to Jethros pond and didn’t mark a fish. Drilled in a lot places. Moved on to Sawgrass and had steady action with dink gills and crappies. Also would hook into an occasional big largemouth. Those bass bitting kept me around. Didn’t mark any fish deep….all were in 6′ or less. Bass were biTing in 3′. I did have a bass snap my 4lb line too. Fun outing and only one out

Thanks guys. I’ve tried Clear Lake but never anything of size. I do get back to Dubuque a few times but end up going for walleyes/saugers. I’ve ice fished the backwaters growing up and always found bluegill. Never had luck with getting into perch. What was I missing?

You thinking Don Williams would be a better option?

I’d be interested to hear how it is too. Debating on Big Creek or Don Williams

Agree to never being 100% dry at the end of day of kayak fishing with a sit on top.

A sit on allows you to swing your legs over the side and dip in the water to cool off. All lot of easy accessible storage on sit on top too.

Access Cover and the original model has worked the best for me.

in reply to: Scheels Rods #1570480

ducksandbucks…do you store your rods in a environment where you run a dehumidifier? I have seen the material in anything from waders to rods break down when stored in an area where a dehumidifier is running. I too have a a Scheels Outfitters Pro Angler Series Rod. They are only ($40) but I haven’t had any issues with it over the last 10 years. It was my first walleye pole and hasn’t ever let me down.

Was out today north of Ankeny. Probably won’t be getting out again. Ice was 4-5 inches and not the best quality.
