If fishing in a portable shack 10′ is to big i’d go with a 6 or 7 inch. To easy to knock something in hole or slip and foot is in hole

what is really needed are reliable biodegradable cheap shotgun shells.

Biodegradable, organic, conflict free sourced shotgun shells, available at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. I bet money Colorado or California is the first to mandate their use if such a thing ever gets invented. Prob cost $2 a shell.

Small price to pay to help the environment. Paper shells are biogradable no need to invent something. Just like the evolution of steel shot. Don’t know if there are paper shells being made anymore? I think there is very little brass in the hulls. Most are plated tin.

As sportsman we should all care about the enviorment. I often wonder why we don’t go back to paper hulls.

Killed 13 friday. more people hunting this field than will be hunting teal at any marsh in Iowa. Had to be close to 70 to 80 people Man pass shooting doves is humbling and fun. Ended up like 13 for 60. Very similar to teal hunting.

Thanks for the replies. Not sure where I’ll end up for the hunt? Originally wanted to get to northeast Montana but I got the notion to try something closer to home. Would South Dakota be better?

Hunted SD a couple of times seen plenty of birds, Hunted the grasslands. Mainly chicken but shot a sharpy both times.

Well…….Went out with two buddies on Friday morning at a local lake.

    We caught 23.75, 22.5, 2-18, 3-17, 14.75, 5-14 for walleye by noon.

    Also caught 3 20-26 in catfish, A 10in crappie, and 3 clams…..lol.

Didn’t think that was to bad.

It’s mid summer live bait spinners in the deep water…..no to hard to figure.

That would be a great day anywhere. Are you fishin iowa

Those are 2 different days. Nothing huge biggest walleye was 18or 19 inches the one perch was a little over 13. The things is people like to call you out as a BS er. These are a small shallow lake and the fishing could end as fast as it starts. Then I move on to find another lake. I have one in mind hadn’t fished it for 10 yrs. but have heard a few good reports from my group that fishes alot of 20 to 24 inchers in it.

Be carefull Sadie, these BS callers and doubters might make you post a newspaper picture to confirm the dates. 🙄 🙄

Only on Iowasportsman can a guy have a great spot to fish and basically be called a liar for posting about it. 🙄 🙄

Nah, more clever than that 🙂

I can see from the exif data contained within the picture that it was taken at the following location
    43.135300 N, 93.225212 W (Mason City)
and at: Date and Time (Original)
    2017:07:06 13:00:40

Good to know some of the lesser known lakes right there near the border can also be good at times… (Had never even heard of Silver, lets never mention it again… 😆 )

dicks like this who just have to one up everybody to post info of where i live. Big man on campus.

Well it was another good day as we limited out again. There were 4 boats on lake today talk to one boat they had there 3 man limit of 15 and some nice perch. We had our 2 man limit and the boat next to me I watched them catch 10 to 12 walleyed and a couple of 5 lb+ bass. Plus the loon was still there. Like I said MN has nothing on Iowa. I believe you ll be able to catch these fish all yr. and it will only get better. Also bull frogs as big as your fist am trying to figure out how to get a few of these for frying pan any suggestion would be appreciated.

I was there! 20 inch crappie were abundant as well. Bluegill the size of hubcaps.

Hope you really are on that good of fishing. I can only think of a couple shallow lakes in iowa where a day of walleye + 5 lbs bass + perch is even a possibility more less typical fishing. Would love to see pictures…

I was there too, and the reason its hard to catch a limit of eyes, 5 lb bass and perch is because when I filleted the 50″ muskie I caught there it was full of all the above.

    lol 😆 …

Saddie, we can help you to post pics. Are they on your computer or a phone? I can pm you my number and I’ll post them for you. (They better not be yellow… 😛 ) I missed the ‘couple of 5+ lb bass’ were those small mouth bass? What place are we even talking about!?

Okay 5, guys and 5 limits. I’ve got 200$. Let me tag along and if you all limit out it’s yours. You’ve got no reason not to do this.

Will, all you are willing to put up is $200? Name one good guide service that only charges $200 and gives you your $ back if you don’t get a limit? I think he has a very good reason to not take your offer. Give away his spot to a guy who will likely expose the area on social media for only $200? Not worth it! I too could put you on consistent year round walleye fishing, but id want at least another zero at the end of the price tag. I put too much time and $ on my efforts to catch eyes consistently, to just give it up all the info that easy.

Sadie, Let the clueless remain clueless. You don’t have to prove squat to anyone. They are convinced walleye fishing sucks in Iowa and not worth the time to chase them, I say let them to continue to believe that. Leaves more room for the guys like us who have put the time in to consistently stay on the eyes year round.

OK….BOBBER I will give the $2000 or 2g’s or 2k or two hundred with a zero behind it whatever you want to call it (makes no difference to me) show me where and how I can consistently catch my limit of “keeper” walleye in IOWA for 3 or 5 or 7 days and I WILL PAY! When and where are we going? It would be great if Sadie would go with us also then he/she too could reap the bounty.

twdenney I never thought Id say this but I’ll hitch a ride with you and bring some caash as well 😆

Speng I would love to go with you to fish with this guy but if you and I are going to spend 2 grand we both need at least a limit of walleye over 18 inches for 2 days consistently to verify all the claims made. Sadie’s story has become a little more detailed since being challenged. I wonder if he also knows that his possession limit is 10 walleye. Sadie if you can accommodate us let us know when on this public forum…..I am not going to try and hide behind a PM. The next week I have a county fair to attend to watch some 4-H kids show projects.

What I love best about this is Sadie jumping on when it was BOBBER who suggested the price to reveal the spot and technique! HAHA

Sadie absolutely knows what the possession limit is. i would like to let you guys know what lake I am fishing but it being a shallow prairie lake would not take much to throw it out of wack. One thing about these lakes is winter kill is a real possibility so these fish do need to be harvested. Yesterday was simply the best day of walleye fishing I have had in Ia. Our group of 4 guys released around 100 walleyes over 15 inches. I suck at posting pics tried photo bucket but have know clue on how to do it. I know my freind who has small munsterlanders knows how to post pics maybe she will help if i send her the pics.

ok here it is if somebody can help me post pics i ‘ll post my picks of the days fishing. we caught 50 walleyes in 2 hrs our 4 man limit were taken home biggest was 18.5 inches a couple of 14 but most were 15 to 16 in. a few perch mixed in maybe 8 with the biggest being 12 in. and smallest about 9. I cast `10 times in a row and caught 10 walleyes btw 14 and 17. a few smaller bass were also caught maybe 12 inch bass largemouths. actually, crank baits were the biggest producer seemed to catch the bigger fish. anchored up in one spot never moved. the pics are on my phone

One thing I do not do is bs. What’s the point As I said before I did not catch the bass the boat next to me did. I do have pics of The 15 wall eyes on our first trip. Will be taking a pontoon up Tuesday me and about 5 other guys and am completely confident we will catch ourv25 wall eyes. We are averaging about 10 wall eyes a hr. Beleive what you want don’t mean squat to me. I was just stating you don ‘t have far to go to catch eyes in Iowa. I can name numerous lake that are 5 to 10 ft deep that you can catch eyes about every time u go. Don t know how to post pics but if I did I would.
