Gobblers don’t always fire up by gobbling, especially later in the season you go….they could very well be call shy.  There are a number of things you can do.  I like to run and gun later in the season and later in the day.  I typically use locator calls, before turkey calls to see if I can get them to sound off. Once I find a tom I will make the plan to either sit and call him in or get in front of him and set up an ambush.    Also make sure you are frequenting known strut zones and feeding areas.  Toms will undoubtedly stop in these areas throughout the day.

It is likely the SPAM filter associating your account with SPAM either from replying to a previous SPAM post that was deleted or it is detecting to many links in your post that gets flagged as suspicious.

Seeing similar action in NW Iowa.  Bucks of all ages are nudging does well into the late morning hours and early evening hours. No cruising or chasing going on yet though.

I just tried to make a post and I don’t see that it took. Maybe I was flagged as spam as well?

Ruger, what was the nature of the post?  I don’t see it flagged as SPAM or in the list of topic que.

For deer hunting center fire rifles must be .24 and larger.  However you are limited to only a few counties this year for antlerless season (Wayne, Clayton, Appanoose, Allamakee).  Shotgun deer seasons allow you to use rifles that shoot straight wall cartridges chambered for handguns.

If you are talking about coyote hunting the .243 would be more than enough.

50 years is a pretty good run!  I was on a stretch for a while where it seemed like I was hooking myself or the victim of someone else hook lodging into my skin.  The worst one ever was when I was a kid searching for a treble hook on a dock in darkness.  Needless to say I found it or at least my kneecap did.  All three barbs were buried and a quick ER trip was needed to get it removed.  I remember is not hurting to much, but it wasn’t not very fun experience!

I haven’t seen anything on trail cams yet.  Normally I start to see them the beginning of September…in SW IA.
