Great story.I lost my dad 3 weeks ago. After the funeral I took his poles and the worms he still had in the fridge and went out to the racoon and fished with him.

My son and I both had some issues with them 3 years ago.I had a doe standing broadside at 40 yards.I shot her and she just stood there so I shot again this time she dropped.when we skinned her I had actually hit her on the first shot but the slug was just under the skin.later that morning my boy had one do exactly what your speaking of.click no boom.we have since switched to federal fusions and really like their performance in our guns.

At the farm I hunt they are still sticking tight to the hens.In fact it is kind of weird the last 2 mornings I have seen a flock of 20 some turkeys feeding until 9.There were about 12 hens out in a group.I was wondering why they were’nt nesting?I did get lucky this morning and put a sneak on a 3 yr old and tagged out.

The morning was pretty slow not one gobble on the roost,Finally lit 3 up around 8 but watched them follow some hens off,I got really lucky this afternoon though.I walked into a public area at 3:30 and at 4:30 had one light up,15 minutes of gobbling later 3 year old flopping on the ground

Thanks for the advice.I called the DNR officer of the county we got the deer in.He said that it should be ok to eat.He said he had seen it before ,it usually started with some kind of an injury .

Heard just a couple of gobbles on the roost this morning. No birds seen on my first set.I then moved to the back side of the pasture.I had 4 hens come running in each one pecked my decoy as they walked past then they came within 5 feet of me.At 10 I was moving to another farm and bumped a flock of toms .Tried another farm no turkey sign.Decided to try another place, stopped ate my sanwiches in the truck.walked in,set my decoy, noon whistle blows,I call three times,in walk 3 long beards right to the decoy.Dead turkey,2 year old 10 inch beard with a bonus extra 3 inch beard to boot!
