I got one this year on sale and am very happy with it. Everyone is pushing electric or the k-drill but for the cost of a new drill and batteries the s33 on sale was way more affordable. Starts up first or second pull every time. 8″ hole is plenty big for everything i’ll ever use it for and it drills plenty fast also. Coming from a hand auger i don’t regret the purchase one bit.

Thanks for the comments guys. I am thinking I will go with the helix 7 si since it’s not a every year purchase and will hopefully last along time and serve year round purposes. I am thinking I will wait for this years new g2 units with chirp to start shipping unless there’s some tempting deals to move the first generation products.

Thanks for the response. It looks like the 7″Di is about the same cost as the 5″si. Not saying I won’t just do it right and spend money and get the 7″SI, but if you had to choose would you rather have the 7″ screen or the side imaging.

Also, what do you do for battery and carrying case with the 7″ when ice fishing.

I’m dock bound but we’ve done well on panfish. Lots of small ones but a few decent mixed in. East O. Fishing wigglers caught perch, bluegill, yellow bass, a couple crappie, and surprisingly a few walleye.

I was wondering the same thing. If it’s anything like the floyd or big sioux it’s probably still pretty high. Was thinking i would try this weekend if it’s not too cold. Where are the public access locations to the Rock? I know of the few right around rock valley, and also where it feeds into the big sioux? Is there anything between rock valley and the sioux? What about between Rock Valley and Rock Rapids?

I caught this one in the big sioux. I think it’s a walleye even though it’s so dark. Not pretty but fun to catch.

Report: 6 hour paddle, crankbaits worked best. We caught 1 smallmouth, 1 sucker, 4 trout, and 1 walleye. Saw tons of fish but they weren’t too keen on biting. Beutiful and fun paddle though.

Thanks, I had heard that somewhere else too. Planning on having one rod set up for crankbaits and one for jigs and twister tails, at least initially. Hoping the weather holds out. Depending where you look scattered thunderstorms are forecast for the decorah area on Saturday.
