That would be a no go on tapping trees on public land.

Cyclone how do you store your sap? Do you freeze it or just keep it cold. Sap should start flowing again today and this coming week.

    On Average I think

    Sugar Maple 40 to 1
    Silver Maple 60 to 1
    Boxelder 80 to 1

Walnut also 40 to 1 but you get alot less sap from a tree is what I have read

We are going to give Walnut a try this year.

Tapping early next week. Yesterday and today would be good days and this weekend looks like sap should be flowing. Then a cool down for a couple days then good sap days after that. Marshall County. What do you use to boil? This is what I built last year and it worked pretty good. Could get through 40 gals in 9 hrs so not the fastest.

I got these 2 this afternoon. Birds were very flighty. I also got a bonus shed in the middle of a prairie!

Yea the plastic taps with the tube running to the bucket works great and keeps everything out. We drilled holes in the lid and its a tight seal. We also have some metal spiles and they let a lot more debris in. Just filter it out like you have been doing and you will be fine.

You need to get yourself some Guineas and they will take care of your crickets and grass hoppers!

The ones by Dolliver I had heard started by the land owner finding a boot along the road so he put it on the fence so the owner would find it. Then others just started showing up and today there are many that have been dropped off.

I would stay away from Tordon it leaches out and travels in the soil with rain. Crossbow or another 2-4-d works good.
