I have a XDS 9 mm that I carry that I really like. I have always planned on getting an XD mod.2 or XDM for winter carry (more capacity and easier to conceal in bulky clothes). I have shot a XDM and it was nice. The trigger on the mod.2 is a little more mushy but fine for a defense gun. Certainly not a long draw like a double action trigger.

I am taking my boat (Alumacraft v-hull) in tomorrow to have my Helix 10 installed. If you can wait for me to get it back I’ll be glad to take pics.

If you don’t mind sharing how they ended up installing it then that would be great. Do you know which way your prop turns for forward propulsion?

I believe all Mercury (50 ELPTO) turn clockwise, at least in the 50 HP range. There is a kicker on the port side, so it will go starboard in roughly the same location behind the console. I am guessing that it will go in roughly the same location as the last one was located. I meant to take before pics today, but it was 18 degrees and wasn’t thinking straight when I was hooking up/taking off.

    Something like this and silicone.

Yeah, that’s the exact one that I ordered. I was planning to use 3M Marine Adhesive 4200 as the sealant, though.

Yeah, I just meant some kind of below the water line sealant. I wasn’t sure which one was the right one and didn’t feel like looking, haha.

edit: I need to do the exact same thing this spring. Upgrading to a Helix 10/i-Pilot link. I think 4200 is the way to go after 5 minutes of looking into it.

Save for whatever you want, don’t buy a cheaper version because it is cheaper. If you want a clays gun, buy a good one not a stoeger. Buy something the grandkids will eventually love!

This, buy once and cry once. Springfield Range Officer 1911 (or better) or Tikka T3 (or better) centerfire rifle. Both of those are kind of the bottom end for me. I wouldn’t shy away from a Savage centerfire as a work horse gun. Buy a quality over-under shotgun and never regret saving to get it.

I have to agree with these guys. I am in a similar boat as you. Was going to get a cheaper full size hand gun, already have a carry gun, but decided to do it right. Looking at a Kimber 1911 CDP.

Springfield has lifetime warranty and Kimber has 1 year, just saying.

If you aren’t in a hurry I would look on gunbroker. You may be able to find a vintage piece that is a shooter, not a collector. I do understand there is risk with that plan. Earlier today they had a 1926 Ithaca 20 SxS no reserve for 275. You just need to be willing to take a risk or be picky. One of my favorite guns is my Dad’s Winchester 37 single shot 12 gauge. There is something about that old steel that would make that special.

I think model 24 would be the correct SxS Winchester model.

Edit: model 21 is more highly regarded.

I would think one of the 9 mm suppressed AR pistols with a brace would be a reasonable choice. Palmetto State Armory has those in their daily email frequently. It looked like they may have a mp5 clone soon per a Palmetto facebook post i saw.

i felt so bad about not knowing as much as i’d like about the ruger mark iV, that i opened up one that i bought for my collection and went out and shot the heck out of it yesterday…

LOVING IT… as far as easy to get apart? yuppers… i like the mechanism and it seems pretty solid and simple. it should serve long term just like the balance of the weapon. i’d tell you have just under a thousand rounds with it, which isn’t a great sample size i realize, that you could buy with confidence… 😉

I would be in the market for a MK IV if I didin’t already have both a Buckmark and MK III 22/45 that I shoot.

    What is your intended use?

The $125 Heritage Rough Rider has been 100% reliable so far and the most economical. The Ruger Mark series is much more durable. If you are religious about cleaning, the Browning Buckmark is a good deal right now. If you are looking for a tactical pistol, do you have a centerfire you could match?

The intended use is for personal protection.

Then don’t buy a 22 if it is for personal protection, unless you have a real fear retaliation from squirrels and small varmints.

It is tough to beat Ruger MK IV for cleaning, not MK I through MK III. The MK IV design is much easier to clean.

I prefer to have the buyer provide a carry permit or permit to acquire. Legally they are not required to provide proof of permit in order to purchase a long gun from an Iowa resident to Iowa resident. I also will create a bill of sale, there are several firearm templates online.

Handguns require permit (carry or acquire), but if you ask for it for a long gun transfer you are just protecting yourself.

I’m not sure what is required to sell a long gun to somebody out of state.

    Quick update…

Stag rep called me, explained situation, and confirmed that only the Stag 9L (LH) was impacted by the issue. They have been testing changes without any luck for the past several weeks, and have not had any luck resolving the issue. This is ironic as they are the only manufacturer to produce true LH AR style rifles and this is their bread and butter. The rep apologized for the lack of communication, and they made things right and maybe kept a customer. 😉

I originally purchased a Stag 9L (LH) Tactical with Magpul furniture, Stag 15 quad rail upgrade, 3- 30 round mags, and hard case for $799.

Stag has agreed to build and deliver the following in 2 weeks…

Stag 9 Tactical (RH) with Magpul furniture, Stag 15 quad rail, 3-30 round mags, and an ambi safety and charging handle ($84 upgrade) for no extra cost. Total for the order remains $799. The Stag 9 Tactical lists for $1229.99 and is currently on sale for $924.99. As a result, I am satisfied with the exchange although it will be a right hand eject rifle.

The rep apologized again at the end of our conversation, and i am satisfied with the trade off. I am happy they made it right, and hopefully they are getting their crap together.

Rock River makes a left or am I wrong.

EDIT: my bad. I didn’t realize that 9L meant 9 mm.

North Liberty also has several ponds where fishing is allowed. I have never fished them.

Zero bites on wax worms today, crappie nibbles was the bait of choice. If you don’t have any in your box get some.

I am not seeing much for wooded areas in the image of the bridge over Hwy 30 unless it is out of the frame. Any idea where the deer came from?

Morgan Creek Park is about 1.5 mile plus from there. From the satellite there is a couple small creeks that feed the park about .75 mile to 1 mile plus. There appears to be a small scrub of timber just north of the bridge with no houses about .75 miles North.

I have a green mountain pellet grill I like, but to use it as just a grill there are some things I think charcoal does better. As a smoker it is tough to beat.

If you are willing to increase your budget wal-mart has the Pit Boss K22 Kamado grill for $471. To smoke you would need to add a heat diffuser but you would have a unit that can grill, smoke, or whatever in the worst weather. I am thinking hard on one. This is basically a big green egg copy for half the price. A heat diffuser could be a pizza pan or a ceramic plate made for the grill. They have one assembled at Sears in CR if you want to look at it.
