I have the one panel Mr. Heater, works well on LOW in the one-man and does OK in the 3Man shack too. Biggest thing is getting your shack insulated with snow around the edges, this will help keep the hate in and keep your heater burning. ALWAYS ventilate of course.hotrodParticipantJanuary 6, 2020 at 2:16 pmPost count: 464hotrodParticipantJanuary 6, 2020 at 2:14 pmPost count: 464
Clear Lake can be a tough one, the ice is great and fish are there.
My best advice for that lake is to travel light and keep moving until you find your desired fish. The more people in your group the better.
***If you are on Facebook, find and “Like” Clear Lake Bait and Tackle, good info about ice and the bite.hotrodParticipantDecember 3, 2019 at 1:48 pmPost count: 464hotrodParticipantJanuary 23, 2018 at 4:02 amPost count: 464
Never tried Diamond.
Rock Creek and Hickory Grove both have good populations of gills and crappies. Crappies dominate Rock Creek, while gills dominate HGrove. In my past experience HGrove will put out bigger fish.
Hope the ice holds, would like to hit these again this winter.hotrodParticipantJanuary 17, 2018 at 3:46 amPost count: 464hotrodParticipantDecember 6, 2017 at 6:03 pmPost count: 464hotrodParticipantDecember 6, 2017 at 5:58 pmPost count: 464
If you only drill 20-30 holes a day then then those two batteries will do you just fine.
Also, if your drill have the double handle option, then the drill conversion plate isn’t that necessary. I have used a drill and K-drill for 4 years now, and the plate isn’t a huge advantage. It is much bulkier toting in a shack, heavier. It does however provide a little more stability while drilling. Either way you will like what the drill will do for your ice angling.
Milwaukee Fuel drill is what i use and after several dozen holes the “locking” chuck does come loose. Always check throughout the day, no matter what drill you choose.hotrodParticipantDecember 5, 2017 at 3:38 pmPost count: 464hotrodParticipantNovember 1, 2017 at 4:33 pmPost count: 464
Thanks for the recap Mayor! It is sad to see this lake be gone for a couple years, however the issues they intend to solve will create a better fisherie for decades to come.
I think I read somewhere that next spring/summer (2018) they will pull the plug, but not for sure on that.
Keep us posted Mayor.hotrodParticipantApril 1, 2017 at 2:41 amPost count: 464hotrodParticipantFebruary 16, 2017 at 5:30 pmPost count: 464hotrodParticipantDecember 30, 2016 at 2:43 pmPost count: 464
The nice part about HANKS is that they have several brands set up so you can sit in them and try them out. If you look on their Facebook page you can see the huge selection they have. Waterloo, IA
Scheels in Cedar Falls has some Jason Mitchell and Clam shacks, these are also set up so you can try them out.
