you got to be joking. if you couldnt get a deer during the gun season thats just the breaks. ive heard and seen more mature bucks harvested this year than any of the previous 5. both during shotguna nd during bow. and for the comment about lets get the deer heard under control. wth- our numbers are still way down over the entire state. im sure the guys in western iowa want just that more deer harvested and even lower numbers. even the public i hunt in NE iowa doesnt even compare to 7-8 years ago. im all for leaving things the way they are or ending the second season shotgun. how bout that
That would be fine ending the second season shotgun and giving me back my 2 week late season after the late muzzy season is over.flyfishrParticipantDecember 18, 2014 at 2:28 amPost count: 1448flyfishrParticipantDecember 17, 2014 at 7:18 pmPost count: 1448flyfishrParticipantDecember 17, 2014 at 11:59 amPost count: 1448flyfishrParticipantDecember 17, 2014 at 11:55 amPost count: 1448flyfishrParticipantDecember 16, 2014 at 4:39 pmPost count: 1448flyfishrParticipantDecember 16, 2014 at 4:06 amPost count: 1448flyfishrParticipantDecember 13, 2014 at 10:46 amPost count: 1448flyfishrParticipantDecember 13, 2014 at 10:40 amPost count: 1448
I’m not against pushing/driving deer, but a hunter gets a tag with his or her name on it. That person should be the one to fill the tag out and if that is the only tag said person had then he or she is done shooting deer, but can still push or drive with out carrying a valid weapon.
So with that said, as party hunting is set up now I’m against it.flyfishrParticipantDecember 7, 2014 at 7:16 pmPost count: 1448flyfishrParticipantDecember 7, 2014 at 6:30 pmPost count: 1448flyfishrParticipantDecember 1, 2014 at 2:15 amPost count: 1448flyfishrParticipantNovember 22, 2014 at 2:18 amPost count: 1448

Nice job!! Glad to hear it is being taken seriously and will be checked out.
X2 I wouldn’t have expected him to drop everything and come running for something like this. I think you did right by making him aware of what was going on. He might just make a few more visits to that area in the future and keep a closer eye on things.
X3! The hunters need to take care of disposal in the proper and decent way. Cudo’s to you Tim!flyfishrParticipantNovember 16, 2014 at 7:10 pmPost count: 1448
For quite a few yrs now I have been buying the Berne brand insulated bibs in black. Have got along great with them as I wear them every day in the winter. I get about 3 yrs out of a pair, but like I said I wear them every day here on the farm. Not overly expensive either. The last pair I bought direct from the factory and with shipping I think it was $80flyfishrParticipantOctober 18, 2014 at 3:03 amPost count: 1448
SMH I understood exactly what Ken was after when he started this thread. He wasn’t out to bash party hunting. All he was after was other hunters opinions on a large group of hunters who happen to be party hunting public ground. Of which one of the party hunters has a sizable amount of private ground that is adjoining to the public ground that this same group will probably be the only ones allowed to hunt on that private ground after they push through the public ground.flyfishrParticipantOctober 16, 2014 at 6:17 pmPost count: 1448

Here’s the pic
At least you should be able to release the spool manually and still use the winch.
I’m guessing from this picture that those are the in and out relays on top of the winch on the right hand side. You could try and switch the wires out on those and see if the cable goes out. If so you will need to go to a parts store and pick up and new relay.flyfishrParticipantOctober 16, 2014 at 6:10 pmPost count: 1448

Why so you can give me your opinion? Thats all that was stated by me was an opinion. Can you elaborate on that? Both systems combined by landowners can produse alot of tags=alot of does shot=less fawns born. The systems are a joke.
Until you have lived and breathed the dep program and the landowner tag system you have not a clue how it works.
Up until this yr I have utilized the dep program. I was enrolled in it for about 7yrs. It has worked in the fact that it has somewhat lowered the number of deer, but the biggest difference is the bigger and better bucks that have come about because of this program. I am aggravated with my biologist as he told me last yr that he would not be renewing my contract as he felt that the pop was ok and the damage last yr was acceptable. Well the damage this yr in the corn has been just as bad if not worse than the previous 2 yrs. I still need to have more control, but I have decided not to ever work with the DNR on the dep program again as I believe it needs tweaked. The program is designed to take deer out of the herd. My feeling is that the application slips that I can give out to hunters and they go and get a $13 antlerless tag should be good until filled or all the deer seasons are over.
We are after lowering the pop on my farm. The tags are good only on my land or any adjoining land that those landowners agree to. Most of the ones who hunted using these tags quit getting them from me and went to buying a county wide antlerless tag because what I gave them tied them down to my place only. They and I felt that these tags should be good from the start of deer season till the end of deer season. Not just the individual seasons as we are trying to reduce the pop on my place.flyfishrParticipantOctober 16, 2014 at 5:31 pmPost count: 1448
Quite frankly there are many federal agencies and programs that mandate and hand down regulations that are not the best fit for states such as Iowa. All they are doing is sucking the money out of the state from our taxpayers and we are getting no benefit of having spent the money. These are things that Joni wants to cut out and put the state back in control of not the Federal Government. I live not far from Joni’s home. I have listened to what she wants to do for the state and have saw changes that have come about since she has been a state senator. She has all Iowans as a whole in her best interests. Braley scares the hell out of me. Oh and I’m not affiliated with either party. I’m an Independent.flyfishrParticipantOctober 8, 2014 at 3:33 amPost count: 1448flyfishrParticipantOctober 7, 2014 at 8:10 pmPost count: 1448

I think that Ken has a very valid point with the fact that one of the drivers that will be participating in this hunt on nearly a section of public ground has adjoining private ground that no one will probably get to hunt on other than this driver and maybe the group that is doing this hunt. And knowing the area that Ken is in this type of hunt with the low deer numbers in my estimation is not good for the herd. This driver could go and set on his private ground and let other hunters other than his group push the deer to him instead of him and his group pushing the deer over onto his private ground so they can have at the deer all to themselves.
Are you seriously complaining about someone being smart enough to drive deer toward another property they plan to hunt? Would you not do the same thing? Come on guys your better than that….
Not complaining, just seems to me to be poor hunter etiquette to send 16-18 guys out through public ground to push the deer over into the private ground just so this group can have at the deer all to themselves.
