Thanks for the response!  Confirmed Oysters.  I cleaned and dryed them.  They should be good to go later on when making soup or something like that.

Yes they run all the way down and they were found on a downed tree.  I thought they were oysters but they just looked a little different.  there were lots of them so thats why i though they were.  Smelled nice and woody too.

Thanks Scruffy, for the great info!  I will take it and try it out.  The area i am hunting is near Wickup out side Cedar Rapids.  I am sure the area around it is probley hunted but I know these yotes are pretty green, I see them often bow hunting and actually had 4 follow me along a fence line when I was walking across the cow pasture to my deer stand.  No further then 60 yards away.. i could see them with my red light and they were not the least bit afraid.  Infact I was a little nervous cause there was at least 4 and maybe more I could not see.  They are very vocal and the owner of the farm has cows and calves so he would like for me to kill some of them.  If i can.  I have had issues in the past hunting cow pastures with cows that they come to the rabbit distress call.  I have no idea why cows come to it but they seem to always screw up the hunt.  hopefully they will be in the other pasture and i can get set up clean and quiet without their hassle.     Rook!  Glad your still kickin!  I had talked to you quite a while ago about maybe getting together to hunt, just never panned out.  Might need to get you and Scruff and have you show me the ropes on killing these dang song dogs!  haha!  its amazing how many i see bow hunting but they are slick and hard to get a shot on with the bow.  anyways.  Ill let you all know what happens when i get out there to hunt.  Will probley wait until we get some snow.  Using an older foxpro and a twerlly coon tail.  I also use an old coon skin cap to put over the speaker so it just helps look like something edible.  Thanks again for the advise!

Scruffy, to me you and rook are the resident coyote experts but i have not see Whiterook on here in a while.  I have a question for you.. I have a piece of ground i can hunt and the yotes have not really been hunted, what calling sequence would you start with?  I am still pretty new to Yote hunting so any advice would be most welcomed.

Just had to register my Kayak cause its was over 13 foot, asked the lady at the counter why i needed to and she said it was over 13 foot.  So if your boat is under 13 and motor less then I think your good to go not registering it.  But call the county office and double check

They are awesome to eat and you usually find a ton when you find them.  I would say they are better then morels.  but its very close.  I always seem to find them after they dry out.

I have used the carter 2 shot release for years, it works perfectly and i have killed many many deer with it.   It works when cold or wet and never had an issue.  I bought a second one as back up, since I had my original of 10+ years but have never had to use the back up.  In my opinion Carter makes some of the best releases on the market although they are pricey

I found about 5 pound of yellows today.  South of CR.  They are out but not thick.  I just happen to find a very large group in one area.  The rest was ones and twos.  So Maybe a good hot day will pop them up.  Although alot of the ones I found today were drying out.  So they been there a while.

And yes Canada is less godly, has no corporal punishment, plays the same video games we do and yet they have a much lower rate of gun deaths. Why? Fewer guns!

    Quite few less people too..

I was not going to weigh in but I feel strongly that something must be done. I Do not blame any gun.. The gun is simply a tool.. Could have easily pulled the alarm and then ran down the kids in the parking lot with a car. People are affixed to the AR and blame it, to me as I said its just a tool. in a different platform like say a Ruger Mini-14 it looks nothing like an AR, wood stock 20 round cap.. same .Cal just looks different. Its Ok to hunt with those and shoot target with them because they look normal or what people see as Normal. I steer away from saying its the gun. So what is it? To me its Mental Health, I am willing to bet that most if not all these kind of shooters are on Anti-Depressant drugs or some kind of a drug for something. He had a history already that people saw and did nothing about.. So it was only a matter of time before it went this way. I am also in favor of Having Armed security and allowing Teacher, properly trained teacher, to conceal carry. Here’s my thought on this. It’s Like Nuclear deterant.. We don’t start stuff with each other because we know the other has a Nuke so we play nice. If you have a handful of teachers along with security armed and trained, the kids do not know who has the guns. They are risking being shot the minute they pull out their own gun to start this. If the football coach that was killed in Florida, was CC he could have been a Weapon not just a Shield and maybe stopped this kid before so much life was lost. I am sick as anyone that this stuff continues to happen and I do believe what Llewellin is saying.. The fabric of our Nation has changed.. When I was a kid we always brought our guns to school in our cars or trucks so we could go hunting after class. There were NEVER school shootings. Nobody went and got their gun if they had a fight. They just delt with it via fist to cuffs. We have moved away from the golden rule and earning what you get. Now everyone gets participation awards for nothing simply because we are afraid they might get their feelings hurt. If you were not good enough you didnt make the team.. You worked hard and tried again next season. You Respected people. Today there is no respect for anyone else. Its always me first… I know the world is not perfect, but dang we have to work harder at being better to each other. Give more then you get and always stay humble.

My Grandma used to say “you cannot Hide from the evil things in the world and you cannot prevent evil people from doing evil things” I guess it means you cannot stop crazy.. My Prayers are to the families of the victims.
