To all the guys who doubted this guy, how do you feel now? I’ve yet to see anyone post, “Hey, sorry I doubted you, kid.” And to the young man who found this, you do whatever you want with these racks as long as it is legal. If you need to sell them to outfit yourself for archery, so be it. And while you’re at it, give thanks to the Almighty for delivering these to you so you could get set up!
Thanks man. We will make sure it is all legal and good to go.cooperdoerrfeldParticipantJanuary 29, 2017 at 1:04 amPost count: 23cooperdoerrfeldParticipantJanuary 29, 2017 at 1:03 amPost count: 23

Congrats on a once in a life time find. It would be nice to have them, but now days some scumbag would probably break in and steal them from you anyway.
I would sell, you’ll always have the pics., but only my opinion.
I would have to agree, I will have the pics and the memoriescooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 8:57 pmPost count: 23

On the other hand, maybe you don’t deer hunt or care about antlers. In that case more power to you. Sell them to someone who would enjoy them.
Im attempting to get in to Deer hunting. Im very interested in archery, thats a big motivator in selling them is buying all the gear, and hopefully someday I can fill a wall of mounts that I shot, although they probably will never come close to this.cooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 8:30 pmPost count: 23

The “Greenbrier Bucks”. Good to hear that you were able to get a salvage tag. Sure you want top sell them? You will never have a trophy prize like this again.
Yep! Howd you know? And yeah we are pretty sure, we understand its an amazing thing but we also know that someone else would probably enjoy it much morecooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 6:42 pmPost count: 23cooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 6:17 pmPost count: 23cooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 6:16 pmPost count: 23

That had to smell really bad. Cool find.
What would something like this bring in? You are a pretty young dude unless you need the money to eat you really don’t need the money, lol.
It didnt smell great haha. And ive gotten appraisals all over the place. But its enough
I’m of the thought sell them. A cool memory for sure, but you have the pics. Cool memory or not, I have never had much attachment to a rack I didn’t harvest myself, and I have found some cool ones over the years.
IMO you can make your own outdoor memories from the ‘profit’ of this outdoor memory. Maybe you will be able to purchase a new muzzleloader or something with the funds from your sold racks, and with said gun shoot your personal best deer ever. Definitely a good deal there. If you sell it be smart about it, you’ll be kicking yourself if you sell them for gas money and movie tickets
I will man. Thats kinda my thoughts. Like yes its very cool, but someone else would probably appreciate it morecooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 5:35 pmPost count: 23cooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 3:48 pmPost count: 23cooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 3:24 pmPost count: 23

Congrats on a cool find! Pretty glim reminder of how life can be for wild animals. I am sure you could find a buyer fairly quick, although I would encourage you not to do so. Granted you didn’t harvest them, but racks like that don’t come around very often especially locked together and just having them around would be pretty cool. Plus it would be proof to a really cool story for years to come. Hold on to them, you will be happy you did. Figure out another way to purchase the bow. if that is not in the deck of cards then contact Circle M Auctions they always of an auction specifically for antlers.
Welcome to the site, don’t be stranger. There are a lot of things to learn and not to learn as well from the guys on here.
I know, I am contemplating what to do. But I really do need the money. I have a job and all but I have some pretty expensive hobbies. But thanks mancooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 3:23 pmPost count: 23cooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 3:05 pmPost count: 23cooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 3:03 pmPost count: 23
So basically what happened is me and my buddy were fishing this pond/lake, we always fish this certain spot where a tree is fallen in the water, we were pitching jigs deep in the cover and we saw what we thought were two other logs in the water. We worked our way around until we got close enough for me to actually realize what we found. I called my buddies and they came down. we towed it out and put it up by my buddies house. We then called the Dnr and got the salvage tags figured figured out, luckily my friend had the contact information. We made sure everything was legal and then loaded it into my truck and here we are. Wasnt trying to offend anyone, just thought this was a good place to share it and maybe reach a buyer. Maybe I was wrongcooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 1:10 pmPost count: 23cooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 4:02 amPost count: 23

DGorman may be correct. As I recall and I still have some unused tags but if you read the tag I believe it says something about for your consumption or animal feed but in any case the whole animal must be taken. Also if it wasn’t road kill it may or may not be eligible.
I was worried about all of that too, but when I talked to the Dnr officer and explained the situation and that we were probably going to sell them, he seemed to think everything is okay and legal. I hope he was right. Thanks thoughcooperdoerrfeldParticipantDecember 19, 2016 at 3:27 amPost count: 23
