I like my recurve based solely on the ability to snap shoot at a fish. Can get those carp that pop outta nowhere

Any inexpensive closed face will work, however throw away the factory line and replace. Horrible stuff.

    Always replace the line.

The issue I’ve had with the “tangle free” kids rods is that when the line breaks you have to restring it through with a small metal rod they give you to tie on the line. Also the rod has no give. Not that makes a huge deal with 3 year olds but the kid won’t really feel the bite unless it’s a 2 lbs bluegill.

My buddy was fishing up there last weekend and he was sitting on 17-20 inches of ice. Everyone was still driving trucks out on the lake.

You might have to lift it up while it’s on to get in close enough to the trailer to hook it up. I’ve done it before when my motor went out on me.

I had some friends go out a few years ago and said it was terrifying. Lots of moving ice and air pockets between the ice and water. They caught 2 bluegills. Not worth it IMO.

I take one camping/canoe trips. I’ve used it a few times. Works pretty slick.

It’s gonna come down to if we get below freezing at night. Deeper lakes (big creek) should be better off.

Went out this afternoon on badger. 10+ inches. Caught a nice amount of big bluegills and a few crappie. It was a grind at the start to find them. Also cold. So cold. Cold.

My father in law who lives on the north side of Ankeny said 4-5 inches on the pond by his place. I’m assuming most of them are safe. DMACC pond might have some thinner spots though.

Thank you! Nice and cold the next few nights should help speed up the process.

Any ice reports from central Iowa? The forecast looks like we should be more than ok by the weekend.

While I shoot a CVA Optima I had issues with the powerbelts. Switched to Hornady and got much better results. I only use 2 pellets as well.
