Wyoming Game and Fish released survey results and nonresident success on elk was at 52% overall for all elk combined. 12900 total nonresident tags were issued and over 6000 hunters harvested elk. For residents over 70000 tags issued but the success rate was only 44%. According to the radio announcer WY had the highest percentage of successful nonresident elk hunters for all other western states. I suppose the limited  number of total licenses plays a big part in the equation but at least if you do luck out and draw one you have a better than 50/50 chance of connecting.  Here is the entire report that breaks down success by area for all of you guys looking for a good elk area this report identifies which areas have the best success ratio for nonresidents.
