I joined eons ago when the site was in its early yrs and took part in posting pics and such and general debates, but over the last 5 or so yrs about all I do is login see what is going on and then log out. If I can shed some light on or point members in the right direction who ask questions I will do that but refrain from posting many or if any new topics.

I check in every few days. I Try to help if I can. Some are truly looking for advice, some for validation, and some don’t really want to know the obvious answer.

I’m not really a vest guy, but if that is what floats your boat 😀

I used to post fairly often, and used to read the forums more often. Here’s why I don’t so much anymore:
    1) The website is cumbersome. Posting pics isn’t as easy here as on other websites.
    2) Far too many internet tough guys. You’re new to the site and asking for help? They slam you. You post something they disagree with? You get slammed. I lost patience with this several years ago.
    3) Add cliques to this list: you disagree with one person, you catch grief from their fan club. no time for that either.
    4) It used to be if you asked a legitimate question, people would try and answer it. Share knowledge. Not so much much any more.
So now I read the forums, but rarely post. Just not worth it. Not that I know much.

Speaking of where did everybody go, what ever happened to Big Jake?I always enjoyed his posts.

I believe that he is still holed up in Fort Dodge. Every so often he will be mentioned in The Globe, which is the Catholic newspaper for this side of the state

I haven’t been here as long as some but the site has changed a lot. I was on hawgz.com before and that was how I found my way here. When I first joined between the two sites it seemed like people were posting every few minutes. People always argued but it was usually all in good fun. I’m not a big time deer hunter like some of you are but I always used to look through the pages and pages of trail cam photos. Now they just aren’t posted any more. Seemed like 5-7 years ago you could basically get a daily fishing report for the 5&1 dam, Coralville dam, and the dams on the DSM with photos included. This site used to be my fix for when I couldn’t get out myself. Now nobody posts pictures but I don’t blame them because you always have the Internet tough guy telling them what they did wrong. I’m all for conservation, catch and release of good spawning class fish and trophy fish. On the other hand, I won’t judge anyone that does it differently than I do as long as they are within the law. I think a lot of it is FB and other mediums that are just more user friendly. The Facebook pages that are specific to a hunting a specific species or region or fishing a certain body of water are really convenient to check in on.
I’m not even sure that I’ve posted 5 times this year, certainly not more than 10. I used to be on every day. Now it seems like I never leave the home page because I’m not interested in the content of any of the threads.

I think the Site has taken some licks as others have said. There is so much info out there, Social media, Professional reviews and you can search out so much info.
Sportsman are not always going to get along. We have a common goal but we are not going to see eye to eye. I mean lets be honest look how hard it is to find a good hunting partner.
I used to access this everyday. I am not nearly as active. I sometimes can get mouthy, and have opinions that may not be shared by others.
That said I think there is still a lot of great people on this site, even if we don’t all share the same ideas of how something should be done.

I post a few pics now and then of the Boss Lady and I fishing or deer hunting and so far I have had very positive feed back. I don’t post them to brag about our success but to share the good times we have with others. I also don’t mind sharing the lures we’re using or the location we’re fishing. I always thought the reason for sites like this is to share your outdoor adventures with others and help steer them in the right direction.
As far as the bickering I pay it no mind, You’ll have a few odd balls in every group and most of the time they just make fools of themselves. I’m here to enjoy every ones post and I thank you for sharing them.

Internet co’s and know it alls are what mainly keep me from posting. I’d post more pics if it wasn’t such a pain in the you know what. I have a lot of hunting and trapping pics that I’d love to share.

I know for drifty and myself, since we are not working for a pay check anymore. We are busy doing what we always came on line for. Just to see how fishing and hunting is going.

We have been busy on a summer hang out. Fishing and hunting, some traveling. Seeing the kids more. Still gardening at our home stead, little haying and corn. Butchering 27 laying hens.

    Processed 2 deer.

We think we are living the good life………..

We check in when we can.

It’s a little clumsy to post a picture but not that bad. I am completely incompetent with electronic devices so maybe I have more patience. Some websites are easier even for me, that is true. I take very few pictures is why I don’t ever post any. I always say I am going to take more but I never do

This sums it up for me…..Also some posters are on this site so much I wonder how much time they could possibly have to spend outdoors!

The creator of this post helped me get on some turkey at the Red Rock public land back when I first created an account. I had been a lurker for some time before I officially joined.
