I have always planted my carrots in May and had mature carrots toward late summer but last year I watched the Iowa Ingredient show on IPTV and the fella on there said he plants his in July and only harvests after a good frost or two turns the carbs into sugar in the carrots. Makes sense as most varieties are 65-80 days depending. I tried last year and had good results but was just wondering when everyone else plants and harvests theirs? Thanks.

1st week in April. Hot weather makes carrots bitter. Cover them if it will snow or get below 26-27 degrees.
