I agree with bowfisher. It will also get the snow off the ice so light can get through and allow the vegetation to make oxygen. This will help prevent fish kill. Considering that the high temp will only be for a short time each day and the daily average will still be below freezing, the ice will tolerate this warm spell just fine. Of course still be wary of the possibility of springs opening up and any other sign of bad ice.
