I’m spending a week at Rathbun the first week of July.  I have never fished this lake before.  There is more structure and water than I can cover.  Any suggestions on areas or presentations?

I am in a different part of the state. But with all the heat, the walleye here have been hiding in the shade during the heat of the day.  If you have a shoreline with a lot of  docks (especially on the south shore), try a minnow and bobber off of those docks.

Start by fishing the shoreline between Prairie View boat ramp and Honey Creek Resort, also from Prairie View south down toward the dam.  Also try the structure out around the Island View Campground.

How did you end up doing down there?

Fishing was slow.  Really warm weather.  I did end up catching 3 keepers, all 17-18″.  Great lake though, with lots of structure.  I’ll fish it again, hopefully with a better bite.
