Pear tree blew down tonight. Has anyone used wood from a pear tree in their smokers? I have used wood from apple trees and mix it with hickory with good results

Pear is a lot like apple. Maybe a bit milder but you are good to go.

All fruit wood is good to with. I have tried pear, peach, apple, cherry apricot. I like fruit wood with pork and wild ducks/geese.

I have found ornamental wood lacking. Bradford, Cleveland ect weaker flavored. A regular fruit bearers hold be fine.

On that note is there any nut wood (besides walnut) that a person should avoid?

I wouldn’t think twice about not using pear!!
