I’m thinking of applying for an Iowa permit to carry and am wondering about the training requirement. I have completed the NRA Basic Pistol online course. It was pretty in-depth, took me about 8 hours total, I’ve been around handguns most of my life but I still learned some things. Would that be sufficient? Has anyone gotten their Iowa carry permit with just an online class? Or is face-to-face instruction required? Quick google search turns up internet ads for courses claiming they are all you need, but not sure if it’s legit. Thanks for any help!ECFirearmsParticipantJuly 10, 2019 at 7:21 amPost count: 1351
Face to face instruction is not required by Iowa law.
Your NRA basic pistol online course certificate of completion should meet the requirements.
