It was a nice day to get out in the timber. Ten to twelve inches of snow to walk and make tracks so I could concentrate on finding the trees with the mushrooms. I look at nine trees that had fungi on. One dead leaning birch tree had plenty still in good shape. I did take home two and a half pounds of good dry turkeytail mushrooms. This will make some great tea for me.

Interesting, I had to google that. I will have to broaden my horizons as far as shrooms, I guess.

About the only thing I have picked from Birch trees is tinder fungus.

I hunt for Chaga too. I have about ten pounds this winter off of dead birch trees. Located a few on live birch. I am letting these grow. It is one of the worlds highest antioxidants. I enjoy this tea the most.
