West lake in Scott county has been completely drained along with the 3 other lakes that drain into the lake of the hills. I thought there would be a lot more dead fish laying around, The stench can’t be ignored.

Any news on why they are doing this?  Carp problem?  Renovation?

These lakes have very serious siltation problems, poor water quality for a few years. They are adding 6 or 7 silt ponds, some are already starting to catch water.   Four lakes will get major dredging and rebuilt back to the depths they were originally. This renovation has been in the planning stage for over 7 years.  Commercial  rough fish seining  happened and maybe some sport fish were relocated. Heavy equipment should start this fall.
