I want to try a trip to Iowa this winter and do some ice fishing.  I’ve heard some good things.  Any suggestions on where I should go?  I figure this would be the best place ask.

billfish3r, I would think about auger on your place. I prefer to take ION electric ice auger ( like this ) with me to any frozen lake, no matter how thick the ice would be. It always cuts ice in an extra-smooth way, and what I’ve noticed already that it has incredibly powerful charging system for perfect performance. I like this auger.

The Okoboji Chain of lakes is a great place, has many guides to help you also.  Clear Lake has a few guides that can help you out too.

If you have your own ice equipment, then the northern half of the state is wide open to adventures.
