    I think they are oysters or hens but I am not absolutely sure.  Hope someone can ID them.

    look like oysters but not certain.  do the gills continue from the cap all the way down the stem?

    Yes they run all the way down and they were found on a downed tree.  I thought they were oysters but they just looked a little different.  there were lots of them so thats why i though they were.  Smelled nice and woody too.

    Those are definitely oysters but are are their last day or near last day of freshness.

    Thanks for the response!  Confirmed Oysters.  I cleaned and dryed them.  They should be good to go later on when making soup or something like that.

    Fresh is best. Soft, pliable, no dry edges, no bugs or dirt, my favorite.
