Friend of mine goes to Canada every year. He told me he is not allowed to take live minnows across the border into Canada/. Tells me he freezes the minnows. Is there secret to this process. I never asked him how he does it. ANY HELP ON HOW TO FREEZE AND TRANSPORT INTO CANADA? RobbiePumaParticipantDecember 22, 2017 at 8:49 pmPost count: 186

When we used to make a trip to Lake Of The Woods, a few years back, we would seine, then freeze them in a mixture of salt and borax, don’t recall the exact amounts, but worked well, the minnows stayed firm, and we caught walleyes on them.

It’s easy because I had some in a bucket in the garage that got pretty stiff the other night.

Just use straight rubbing alcohol. Fill your container, add your minnows. Best thing i ever found .
I have kept them for weeks like this. Works for all bait fish.stick500ParticipantDecember 29, 2017 at 3:45 pmPost count: 457
Gamefish don’t mind the taste of rubbing alcohol?
