Was wondering how the ice conditions are and if anybody is driving smaller trucks on the ice yet?

I was out there 2 days ago, and there was a Dodge Neon, and a old S-10. One quad out on the old road bed. The car pushed the permanent shack out south of the handicap dock boat ramp. Be careful, Im giving it another week definitely not worth paying the fine$$$lyonboyParticipantJanuary 7, 2011 at 5:46 pmPost count: 587
South side of lake is probably like 9 inches. I won’t drive out until I see many other trucks out.REDBONEParticipantJanuary 7, 2011 at 5:51 pmPost count: 23
Thanks guys. I’ll leave my truck at the ramp and hop in with my buddy and see if he makes it.lyonboyParticipantJanuary 7, 2011 at 5:54 pmPost count: 587

it’s easy as heck to pull right now because there isn’t any snow on the ice. get a little exercise :). Better safe than sorry. big creek has enough traffic on it right now with people.docmudgeParticipantJanuary 7, 2011 at 7:53 pmPost count: 1857
10-12″, I think. ATVs, sure. Cars and trucks? Maybe, but I sure as heck won’t be doing that. Lake’s not all that big and the snow isn’t that bad yet. I’m OK with walking and getting some exercise. God knows I’ll completely undo the exercise by drinking beer as soon as I setup the hut.WimbieParticipantJanuary 7, 2011 at 9:14 pmPost count: 354
I’d bet your truck that it is safe to drive on. 😈 It was 10 1/2″ thick over 40′ of water on Sunday night, that was measured, not guessed.[email protected]BlockedJanuary 8, 2011 at 12:41 amPost count: 20268
How about an Ice Taxi stand at the ramp? 🙂 A couple of snowmobiles with hitches. ???? $5 round trip tow?? 😀munchy71ParticipantJanuary 8, 2011 at 1:05 amPost count: 1110
If it truly is 10″, there shouldn’t be any problem driving on it now. 😉

I usedd to think this was crazy until I went on a fishing trip by Watertown SD.
I pulled a camper on to the ice and we camped out . Ice was about 26 in. The wind chill was 30 below.
If our heater went out i think we would be dead. It still was cold with the camper..
fishing was more than excelent as we got the limit of 50 Jumbo Perc per personl. (that is no longer the limit there now days) and I got several 7 to 10 lb Northerns thru the ice and
a few nice walleye including a 25 inb walleye. Love it!!!1 B) Damn northerns get awfull slimy that sucked.ISUfisherParticipantJanuary 13, 2011 at 5:56 pmPost count: 3
